一個『聲音』在物理上、美感上與心理上的價值，不僅僅只能透過我們的日常經驗（聽覺經驗）來解釋，更可以單純地由聲音本身的音色、質地以及震動來感知。就像是電影導演或是視覺藝術家，可以透過自身對於視覺素材質地的廣泛涉獵，來增加其影像能力，我們一樣可以透過----練習對聲音質地的關注----，來增加我們使用聲音的能力。
沒記錯的話，這是在談到ACOUSMATIC SOUND時，提到的概念。換句話說，很多時候，聲音設計師會鍾情於聲音本身的質地，這個質地往往不需要日常經驗來輔助、解釋他為什麼會喜歡。

搞電影的人為什麼要反媒體巨獸？

1958年巴贊問自己『電影是什麼？』他認為，電影再現了外在的現實世界，電影想像的是一個與真實世界高度雷同的幻境，無論是聲音、影像、立體感或氣氛。
到了數位複製的年代，現實世界包容了大量的幻境，事情因此變得棘手。布西亞發現，『真實』將被『擬真』取代，建構比『真實』還『真實』的『超真實』。於是，我們活在一個『擬真的時代』。我們常常懷疑、常常不安、卻又容易被慣用的伎倆說服、被慣用的伎倆刺激、被慣用的伎倆感動。
做為觀眾，以為將在數位複製時代獲得更多自由，卻反而更加公式化、一致化。
